Antigua
A UNESCO World Heritage colonial city surrounded by volcanoes — the natural starting point for every Guatemala itinerary.

Antigua Guatemala is one of the best-preserved Spanish colonial cities in the Americas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site enclosed by three volcanoes. Its cobblestone streets, ruined baroque churches, and vibrant food and arts scene make it the most atmospheric city on La Ruta Maya. Nearly every Guatemala itinerary begins or ends here, and shuttle connections to Flores (for Tikal) and the Honduras border (for Copán) are well established and comfortable.
