Overnight StopBelize Barrier Reef

Caye Caulker

Belize's most relaxed island — the classic end-of-route rest stop before flying home from Belize City.

Caye Caulker is a tiny, car-free island on the Belize Barrier Reef — the classic end-of-trip wind-down for overland travellers who have spent weeks at inland Maya sites. Its motto is 'Go Slow', and it delivers: white sand lanes, colourful wooden houses, excellent snorkelling at the nearby reef, and cold Belikin beer. It is not a Maya site base, but as a final overnight stop before flying out of Belize City it is hard to beat. The water taxi from Belize City takes 45 minutes.
