Tikal's jungle towers and Copán's incredible stone carvings
Overview
This eight-day route pairs the two greatest Maya sites of Central America — Tikal and Copán — with a beginning in the volcanic colonial city of Antigua and a stay on the shores of Lake Petén Itzá. One border crossing connects Guatemala to Honduras, and the shuttles that service this route are comfortable and well-organised. Tikal at dawn is one of the great travel experiences on earth; Copán's carved stelae and Hieroglyphic Stairway are unmatched in artistry anywhere in the Maya world.
